Blue Moki is a type of Trumpeter and often caught off the east coast from the Bay of Plenty to Kaikoura. Juveniles live is the rocky shallows whilst adults school over sandy seafloor in depths up to 150 meters.
Blue Moki fillets are firm, hold their shape and are a greyish-white when cooked. They are suitable for most cooking methods, including curries, poaching, smoking, steaming, and frying.
