Wahoo (Ono) Loins per 1kg/Frozen
Also known as Ono, Wahoo is whiter, flakier, and has a more delicate texture compared to similar surface dwelling species.
These large, flat, skin on loins are vacuum packed for freshness and blast frozen to retain their flavour and texture.
Wahoo, also known as Ono, tend to be solitary, rather than in schools, making them difficult to catch. They are generally caught when long-line fishing for Tuna.
Ono means 'good to eat' in Hawaiian. However, some believe the name derives from the exclamation of some fishermen, "Wahoo!" who have hooked into the extremely fast running fish.
Preparation: Wahoo is a very versatile fish, and works well with most recipes. It has a low fat content making it especially suitable for poaching.
Availability: While stocks last.
Shelf life: Best consumed on arrival or within 3 days from receiving product if defrosted.
Fish for your health: White fleshed fish is traditionally high in protein and low in fat. However, all fish provide an excellent source of Omega 3, an essential fatty acid which helps in lowering blood cholesterol and maintaining a healthy circulatory system.
