Sashimi Blocks Albacore Tuna NZ(500g)/Frozen
NZ Albacore Tuna have a medium to firm steak-like texture and large moist flakes with a medium oil content.
Our Sashimi Blocks have been been portioned from the Loin into approximately 500g skinless blocks then blast frozen down in our minus 60 degree freezer to maintain optimum quality and freshness.
Albacore Tuna reflects sustainable fishing at its finest. The fish stocks are healthy, no damage to the eco-system and there is ongoing effective management of Albacore Tuna Fisheries.
Albacore Tuna is managed by the Ministry for Primary Industries using the New Zealand Quota Management System. Regular stocks assessment are conducted to estimate fishery stock size and numbers along with scientific studies. From these studies scientists can estimate future stock sizes and catch limits.
Preparation: These sashimi blocks can be sliced for sashimi, cut into steaks then poached, marinated, grilled, barbequed or baked. Grilled or barbecued, tunas are best seared and left rare centrally. Care must be taken to avoid over cooking.
Availability: All year round while stocks last. The fresh NZ Albacore Season is from March to August approximately.
Shelf life: Best consumed on arrival or within 3 days of receiving product if product thawed.
Eat tuna for your health: Tuna is an excellent source of Omega 3 (approx 0.5g per 100g) which helps in lowering blood cholesterol and maintaining a healthy circulatory system. Tuna is also a good source of vitamin B3 used for the nervous and digestive systems, the skin and the manufacture of hormones.
Suggested wines: Tuna flavours are definite, and well accompanied by medium to full-flavoured white styles and some reds. A herbaceous semillon or vegetative sauvignon blanc will be pleasant with sashimi or grilled tuna.
